Andrea Allen is a native of Phoenix, Arizona. An up-and-coming grant writer in the Valley, she has been writing grants since 2005. Andrea has assisted several organizations in developing solutions in the areas of program development, sustainability, and budgeting, among others. Her background in grant writing gives her the ability to quickly and efficiently formulate solutions to critical problems.
Using the grant writing skills she learned in the nonprofit world, she can maneuver through the maze of government funding applications. Some federal government agencies include the National Endowment for the Humanities, National Endowment for the Arts, Institute of Museum and Library Services, Food and Drug Administration, Employment and Training Administration, and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Other grants include foundations, corporations, the State of Arizona, Maricopa County, and the City of Phoenix.
Her qualifications include creating proposals from concept to final documentation to include policies and procedures, strategic planning for short and long term projects and programs, researching potential funders using a variety of online resources, interim and final grant award reporting, and networking in large groups to cultivate corporate prospects.
Andrea’s diverse life experience includes working at the Heard Museum, Valle del Sol, United Cerebral Palsy, the Easter Seals, St. Peter’s Interparish School in Washington, DC, and the Archdiocese of San Antonio as the assistant director of Deaf and Hard of Hearing ministries. Andrea served more than seven years in the United States Air Force as a Russian cryptologic linguist where she translated, transliterated, transcribed, and interpreted Russian as needed by the mission. She enjoyed living on Crete, Greece as well as in West Berlin, Germany where she witnessed the fall of the Berlin Wall. Her world travels have taken her to Israel, France, Turkey, Egypt, Canada, Mexico, Germany, and Greece. In total, she has lived in or visited 93 cities in 9 countries.
Andrea is a member of the American Association of Grants Professionals, the Society for Technical Communications, and the American Society for Information Science and Technology. Andrea attended Arizona State University East to study Multimedia Writing and Technical Communications.
